We’d love you to join the many families who have holidayed at Rivermead over the fifty years since it first became a holiday destination, many of whom return year after year. We offer the best of both worlds in Cornwall: we’re easily accessible from the A38 and A30 for you to be able to visit Cornwall’s wonderful attractions, but we’re secluded enough for you to enjoy some rest and relaxation after a busy day at the beach.
We have several properties which comfortably accommodate large families of six, or seven, and a smaller one for four guests. You can also book more than one property, for family gatherings, and we can sleep up to 32 guests when all properties are booked together. Making us the perfect destination for your Cornwall family holidays.
If you’re travelling with young children, we have travel cots, a highchair and baby bath available, to save you packing them.
For older children, Rivermead offers a chance to roll down grassy slopes, climb or swing in the trees, build dens, paddle in the stream and explore the woods. We have a fire pit in the woods, with seating logs around it, which is lovely for gathering everyone together at the end of the day, and tiring the kids out ready for bed by sending them off to collect fire wood. We also have a boules court and many outdoor games available which you are welcome to borrow on sunny days.

Squirrel
Squirrel Cottage is a charming and spacious two-bedroom ground floor retreat. With one double bed and one single bed, it’s an ideal option for couples or small families. The kitchen homes all you will need to make the duration of your stay feel like home, we’ll prepare all of the essentials ready for you to enjoy your Cornwall family holidays.
Both bedrooms in Squirrel Cottage face south, enjoying plenty of natural light. Squirrel Cottage also has a bright sitting room overlooking the outside seating area and makes the perfect space to lounge in with your loved ones after a long day of exploring the Cornish countryside. This cottage is perfect for a family retreat, packed with essentials to make your time with us even more enjoyable.
Bluebell
A charming two-bedroom ground floor cottage that immediately feels like home upon arrival. If you’re seeking a cosy rental for relaxing on your Cornwall family holidays, or a convenient base for exploring the gorgeous surrounds, Bluebell Cottage is ideal. This self-contained cottage accommodates up to four guests and is situated on the ground floor of our beautifully converted Cornish stone barn.
Again, this cottage is packed with all of the essentials to make your stay the very best it can be, we’ve lovingly thought of every detail and cannot wait to welcome you for your stay with us.
The Farmhouse
The Farmhouse is the perfect base for your Cornwall family holidays, a detached eighteenth-century farmhouse brimming with character and original features. Farm Cottage is the largest of our rentals, popular with families including grandparents and children. This detached four-bedroom property was created by merging the original farmhouse and a stable, both dating back to the 1700s. The cottage exudes charm with its sloping walls, uneven stairs, inglenook fireplaces, and low oak beams. Keep an eye out for the slate etched with the date 1827, nearly two hundred years ago.
The front of the cottage is a sunny haven, perfect for relaxing on the benches while watching the birds or listening to the river. There’s a table and seating for essential holiday barbecues, along with a Weber BBQ available for your use. The Old Farmhouse also features a gravelled seating area and a small, private lawn.
