Oaktree Cottage
A cosy, one-bedroom hideaway perfect for individuals or couples. Oaktree Cottage is one of our smallest cottage rentals but offers a comfortable place to stay if you’re visiting alone or as a couple and want to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall, or to fish at Rivermead or simply to take time for yourself.
What our guests say about Oaktree:
We spent a week at Rivermead and can honestly say it’s one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. The interior of the accommodation is decorated to a really high standard with beautifully matching decor and the same can be said of the kitchen crockery; it felt very luxurious. The grounds are outstanding with no need to leave the complex if it’s peace and tranquillity that you want. There’s tons of wildlife on your doorstep as well. It is centrally located for both north and south Cornwall and there are lots of lovely pubs within a short drive that do some really good food and beers.

The Ground Floor
Oaktree Cottage is a one-bedroom cottage on the first floor of a converted, 300-year-old Cornish stone barn. Like Kingfisher Cottage, it’s all on one level and has its own private parking space, entrance and porch which is great for coats, shoes, fishing rods, wellies, and picnic blankets. The large living room has two south-facing windows and is divided into a comfortable seating area with a TV with Freeview, a leather sofa, armchair and footstool and a dining area where the table and two chairs look out towards the Glynn Valley.
The Bedroom
Cook in Comfort
The kitchen is small but well-equipped with plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery, and utensils for a self-catering stay. If you’d like them, a sandwich toaster, slow cooker, and food processor are also available. Everything you’d expect to find in the kitchen is there – electric oven and hob, fridge with icebox, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere – and perhaps some things extra, including tea and coffee so you can make a hot drink when you arrive. You’ll find a kitchen starter pack of tea towel, oven gloves, washing-up liquid, sponge, and J-cloth if you want to cook; although who wants to cook on holiday when there are so many great cafes and restaurants within an easy drive? During the summer, guests in Oaktree Cottage have access to additional freezer space in the Rod Room, should they want it.
Relax in the Sun
Outside the cottage, you’ll find your own picnic table and parasol and a lawned area just for you. There’s a BBQ available during your stay and, as the sun sinks into the valley, you can sit with a glass of wine and watch the buzzards circling over the meadow or try your hand at a game on the boules pitch.
